unless i overlooked it - for links you should make them open in new windows - Ive tried to add it in myself but had no luck, so I recreated my links page in static pages with the blank target-Chrisitan

Many site admins and users prefer this behaviour and really don't want a site poping up new windows but I can see that having the option is a good idea.
Here is some info on how you might modify your installation should you want to. I've not tried this but I would look at the following:
When you click on one of the links - it calls portal.php which checks that the item is not empty and then retrieves the url from the table. It then calls a common library function in lib-common called COM_refresh with this URL.
The COM_refresh is a 1 line function that does the redirect to the URL passed. I would not suggest modifying this function to add the target="_new" but you could copy this line and replace it in the portal.php. So instead of calling COM_refresh just use that line of code and modify it to open a new window.
