I understand my portal application once established for others to come and post freely will help to invite spelling errors.Though I understand the grammer and spelling of others is not my responsibility, first time users might not get the picture and bad spelling can lead to a bad first impression...My point is I looked for a spell checker I can implement into my portal... No luck but I read somewhere php has a built in spell checker or at least support for one...I found aspell at http://aspell.net/ but here we go again with very limited Windows support... It works fine as an executable on my own machine but as a tool for the server... Well it seems impossible...I was also thinking of asking my users to politely download iespell at http://www.iespell.com to check their spelling before publishing but its tricky and sure to lead to some confusion... Besides it only works on IE and I know its not the only browser out there...My question is, is their a spell checker that can work hand in hand with Geeklog? If not hand in hand a spell checker which should do the trick?I would really appreciate any ideas or suggestions on this and would even invite third party solutions such as iespell... But please no shareware as someone shouldn't feel pressured into buying anything just to post on my site...Thanks for any feedback in regards to this question.

Well if this was /. , you'd get razzed for spelling grammar wrong .. but it is not, so we'll let it go : )
aspell has been replaced with pspell and it is not automatically built in - it is optional as specified at This link.

You're right Chalk... Wouldn't it have been nice if I could conveniently double check my spelling before making the post
It might not be a big deal to some and not even to me but it would be a nice option for others ---Victor B. Gonzalez

After reading the document at php.net, it looks like Aspell has replaced Pspell (look at the last post in the document). However, you should use the Pspell interface.
Now that we know all of this, how can we use it with GL?
I currently use ispell from http://www.iespell.com/ , but it would be nice to integrate something into GL instead of the browser.

Wow - after I read further at the Aspell site - its seems that pspell is no longer, but Aspell is back - this according to Aspell's author - who admits that it is very confusing because if you're using old PHP you need Aspell plus Pspell - but if you're using new PHP you need Pspell plus Aspell and watch out for versions less than .50 except for Wednesdays when ispell subs for pspell (I made that last part up - but holy crap what a mess). Fahgetabout windows - not supported. I have a few windows-only spell checkers that I use with usenet clients - client side only - but they are free.

Here's a version of ASpell for Windows. They don't look dead in the water. You can always do a search on Google and see if there are any other spellcheck projects out there for you guys.
