Where to put description/keywords meta tags

Could someone please tell me where I should put my description/keyword meta tags.

The only search engine that matters anymore is really Google. Google does not even look at your meta keywords because they are not visable on the page. So why even bother putting them in?

That's right, but Google does honor the meta description under some circumstances. So adding that may be worthwhile. bye, Dirk

Contrary to your belief, google is not the only search engine that people use. Granted, I am partial to google but I find that it can take up to and over two months for google to re-index a website (mine).

On the other hand, I find hits from MSN, Yahoo, AOL, and a variety of other search / directory services in my web logs so I think you're selling yourself short if you don't make the effort to make your site available to any search engine, whether it's popular or not.

I find my site coming up on the top of several search engines on very obscure searches.

I am in the process of adding the meta tag info today, in fact.
