Mac OS X Geeklog Help!

I am new to Geeklog (GL) and I have successfully loaded it on my system using the //admin/install.php. I have set the path to geeklog & checked permissions using //check.php (BTW: on OS X you have to chmod -R the named folders & files to 777 not 775 for it to work).
BUT when I go to /geeklog/public_html/index.php GL tries to load...it appears to be in some kind of 'loop'. That is, the page NEVER loads...but looks like it is trying to load. (the progress bar say completed 1 of 3 items) Literally, after 10 minutes it should have loaded.
I've checked the mysql database using phpmyadmin...there are the users with the proper privileges.
Please help! What am I doing wrong?

See previous discussions of this problem. Although I have to say I never had that problem on my machine ...
bye, Dirk (on MacOS X)
