Page Titles and SEO

Anyone found a way to have a different page Titles (and meta tags) for every page of the site? At the very least the static pages? I'd love to be able to move a site over that is optimized and ranks well in google and other search engines with individual page Titles describing the content of the page. That has been the only thing holding me back. With geeklog, I save hours and hours of content updating by allowing my visitors to submit articles, news, photos, etc? However, I end up sacrificing my already great placement and lose traffic to the site by having the same title for all my pages. Any suggestions? Multiple headers??

The page title can be changed in one of two places depending on your theme. In config.php you will find the site_name and site_slogan variables. These can be set dynamically with a little code. I created a rudimentary plugin to randomly change the site slogan as an example plugin. You could expand it to be not random but specific to each page. In the same way you could change site_name. If you are interested in the slogan plugin drop me an email and I will give you a url to get it. TomW

Keep in mind this is very rough, just done to illustrate some code. There is no user or admin interface, but the main code is there and has been working on my site for 6 months or more. Until I delete it again you can get it here:

slogan_0.1_1.3.7.tar.gz.

Hi, I'm new to this too. Don't know if this is what you mean exactly but here goes: If you click on an article/story to go to the next page that next page will have the title of the article/story. For example by clicking on the comments from the original page (which would be the same as if you had a read more link) the title is displayed properly as "Page Titles and SEO". However if you click on the comments themselves the title goes back to the site original. My problem is I need my site up more than I need good rankings in Google because I won't get anywhere in Google without the site up. Kind of a catch-22. I am going to check out the fix that was mentioned though as well.
