Installing Geeklog with PHP safe mode on
Anonymous
Anonymous
I am currently hosting a site on MediaTemple and I am wanting to install the 1.3.7 version of Geeklog. I have full access to MySQL, but PHP 4.2.2 is running in safe mode on their servers. I am only moderately proficient at PHP and other web based applications so I am not sure if Geeklog will even work in this situation.
Does anyone have any experience of knowledge of just how easy or difficult this process might be? What would/does it limit?
Also I do not have access to the root of the server but I am positive I can install it in a directory that I have complete permissions and access to. It is a shared server and I assume there is a master root (admin) and then all of the sites on the server have full access to their own directories. Will this cause problems? If this is an impossibility (I'd like to think that anything can be made to happen with good old fashioned know how and lots of effort)...can someone recommend quality hosts that smile down on Geeklog administrators?
Thank you in advance for any and all information that you can provide. Long live Geeklog and long live the Geeklog community (oh god now I am a zealot...well I guess if you are going to be it might as well be for something this cool

I have no (big) problem running geeklog 1.3.7. on a safe mode enabled server. I just can't use the build in database backup, what seems to be a safe mode issue. So i need to backup using phpMySQL.
