Not sure I understand your problem ... You are talking about a topic and about a page at the same time - that doesn't seem to make sense. A topic in Geeklog is something that you see in the Sections block - it's the name of a category you can post stories under. Maybe you're trying to delete a story then? That would be available from the "Stories" section of the Admin's menu. bye, Dirk

Okay. I went to my site, <a href="http://www.nans.us >www.nans.us</a><p>I logged in and clicked on the words "money for tighwads".<p> The articles there do not show up. The site says"There are no news stories to display. There may be no news for this topic or your user preferences may be too restrictive.for topic Money ". BUT THERE ARE STORIES THERE. So, I decide to delete the section and start over but when I go to the "topics" section and try to delete that section by clicking on those words... the screen is BLANK where words and the box with information and the delete box should be.<p> I hope that helps and again Dirk, Thank you for everything. Nan.

This sounds more like an issue with topic permissions. When you try to go to the topic page (to delete it), are you doing this as the site Admin? My guess (btw, I get a "connection refused" when I try to go to your site) is that the topic permissions are set up quite restrictively so that you're not allowed to see the stories under that topic. To fix that, you would have to go to that topic and change the permissions. But you seem to be doing this from a non-admin account. Not sure why you get a blank page instead of an error message (that may be a bug - need to check that). So, log in as the Admin and fix the topic permissions and all should be fine. Btw, deleting a topic will also delete all the stories in that topic - that's probably not what you wanted ... bye, Dirk

Hello Again... On my site <a href="http://www.nans.us">www.nans.us</a>, I click on Money Tips for Tight Wads so I can delete it from the Topic area but the "topic editor" does not come up. I get a blank page instead. When I do this with any of the other topics, a topic editor comes up and I have the option to change things or delete the topic.<p> At the bottom of my screen I see this in the small part of the bottom of the screen on my browser-"http://www.nans.us/admin/topic.php?mode=edit&tid=Money Tips For Tight <p>I checked the permissions on the story page and they look the same as other permissions.<p>Please advise what you think is happening or tell me how I make changes to a site.<p> Can I use the ftp?<p>I paid someone to upload my site so I am not familiar with the installation procedure yet I have done some sites with html. I'll try anything. thank you so much

You haven't answered my question: Are you doing this from the Admin account or are you using some other account (that may not have the permissions to edit that particular topic)? And, no, there's nothing you could do via ftp. The topics, stories, permissions, etc. are all stored in the database, so you would need to change things there. bye, Dirk

Okay, thank you... YES, I am working from the admin account. I login admin and password and I see on the left a list of words. I click on topics. A bunch of topics come up. I click on "Tightwads" and get a blank page. If I click on any of the other ones, I get a topics editor box that allows changes. Thank you for your patience.

Hmm, that's strange - as the Admin, you should have access to everything ... But I just saw that you're still running on 1.3.5sr2. There have been 18 changes (including several bugfixes) to admin/topic.php since that version was released, so it's possible that you're running into an old bug there (although I can't think of one that has the described effect when looking through the list of changes). Anyway, on the list of topics, does it say "(Edit)" after that particular topic or does it say something else? Just trying to understand what's happening there before I can recommend a solution ... bye, Dirk

If I were to pay someone to upgrade for me, would that probably solve my problem? Also, on an upgrade, do I lose everything I've written???thanks so much.NVR
