Is there a way to restore the System Message box (which gets displayed as index.php?msg=# where # = 1-50) in the main page if the frontpage is a static page with nonews?

This guy had a fix for it, I think, but the instructions are outdated with the new index.php file and I don't know enough PHP to try to tweak it to work.

Also, if it can be restored, is there a way to put the System Message box above the static page?

The only workaround I can think of right now is just a normal frontpage label and making sure there are no news displayed on teh main page (which will cause problems for future stories).

Thanks a bunch
