If you are wanting to download the cvs files to a windows machine, here are the steps I followed to get it working with WinCVS (http://www.wincvs.org/).
  1. After you have installed WinCVS and chosen the directory you will put your CVS project(s), go to the Admin menu and choose options.

    Set the CVSROOT to anonymous@geeklog.net:/usr/cvs/geeklog

Choose passwd file as the Authentication method.
  2. Go back to the Admin menu and choose Login. . .

    Enter "geeklog" as the password

You should see a message at the bottom saying:
*****CVS exited normally with code 0*****

You should also see a new file called .cvspass in the current display.

  3. Now go to the Create menu and choose Checkout module.

For the module name and path, enter Geeklog-1.3

Click okay, and the download should begin.

Enjoy.

And for the non-techies, you can go to CVS link under the Resources menu on this site and just click on the link which appears under the section Nightly CVS tarball.

Eclipse (the opens source IDE) has a nice interface to cvs as well that includes the ability to browse multiple cvs repositories and do all the cool cvs stuff (check out, commits, updates, versions, tags, etc) all from a nice, clean and straight forward GUI. -Vinny

TortoiseCVS is another great method of accessing CVS for Windows users new to CVS. Actually, I use it myself for day-to-day CVS operations. The Explorer integration is nice.
