moving a geeklog install

I was just curious if anyone had any insight into moving a Geeklog site off of my Apple G4 running 10.2 onto a internet server? I have never tried this before but I need to maintain the entire Geeklog backend/settings and MySQL information. (I assume I tar the installation but how will this affect permissions once uploaded on a remote server). Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how I might accomplish this? It would be more than appreciated. thanks in advance Go Geeklog! mc

Well, chances are the path layout on a webserver are different from that on your local computer. So I would do a fresh install, but instead of running the install script, just import a backup of your local MySQL database. Then you only need to set up your paths correctly and should be ready to go.

If you have some stories in your database already, then you should use this script to fix the "What's Related" links.

bye, Dirk

i recently switched to POPLOGIC.COM since they have $7/mo hosting and MySQL, PHP, APACHE. The changeover is going reasonably well. There is an absolute path youll need to use instead of /var/www/html but thats about it.
