Interval for updating portal blocks?

Anonymous

Anonymous
I was just wondering how one controls the interval that portal blocks are updated. I want to make sure that when GL updates the slashdot feed http://slashdot.org/slashdot.rdf that it does so only once per 30 minutes. Slashdot will ban my IP if i asking for the rdf file more than once per 30 minutes. Is there a way to change the refresh time per each rdf/rss source? Thanks

The update interval is hard-coded to 60 minutes. bye, Dirk

Gotcha. Looks like COM_rdfCheck does the work. While 60 min is a good default [much better to be longer rather than shorter in this case! ;) ], I wonder if that's something that can be customized for each portal block in a future GL version. Or is letting users change the update time too dangerous? Maybe it could have a minium default time that user's couldn't go under [eg: 1800 or 3600 seconds]. Anyway, just an idea. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I feel a bit dumb I didn't notice COM_rdfCheck as I've been looking through lib-common.php for a little while now.. :-O /vjl/

There's already a Feature Request for this, but it isn't been implemented yet ...

bye, Dirk
