Static Page question

I've looked at countless search results for "static" and I didn't find an answer to this...
How can I have the static plugin (or another plugin) create static pages for all of my existing and new stories and make changes if they are edited/changed/removed?
My site is pretty popular (50-70 visitors constantly) and it's a pretty big burden for MySQL. Since only 3-5 new stories are added daily I don't see a reason to keep using MySQL for a mostly static site... (and I only use geeklog for stories).
I tried relocating my database file to another server and changed the configuration from localhost to the IP address, but it was absolutely terrible, it would take over 30 seconds for the page to come up (if it didn't timeout)... Thanks!

I don't believer there is pluging that will convert stories to static pages.
You might try posting your question to http://gplugs.sourceforge.net/, you could get a better answer.

\"Get published\" will post it as a story and those need to be approved first (and it seems Tom Willet isn\'t around at the moment).
In the Site Naviation block on gplugs.sf.net, it currently says \"GeekLog (17/1)\". That means 17 published stories and 1 waiting for approval - that may be yours ...
bye, Dirk

You could look at the code for the static page and see what gets executed after you click on the save button. Then write a routine that will take the stories and make them staticpages.

I don\'t have that type of knowledge. I really wish I did, because this seems like something that wouldn\'t be too complicated if someone wanted to do it. But I could be wrong. Please, anyone contact me if they are willing to help...
