Need Layout Help!
Jeffrey
Anonymous
I keep getting beat-up pretty bad on my layout. I think for those lower resolution people it is a mess and I have tested in 800X600 and agree it ain't pretty. What can be done to clean this up? I keep my images small I allow in blocks to allow more real estate in the main body but this doesn't seem to be enough. Any ideas from you GL aficionados?
Thanks! - jp-

Well, excuse me for saying that, but for starters you could stop using Adobe Golive to edit the template files ;-)
The HTML on that page is very, very broken. For example, you have two complete <head> sections, one of which includes a "Welcome to Adobe Golive" title. I'd suggest cleaning up this mess first ...
bye, Dirk

Thanks Dirk, I appreciate the input and will consider moving away from GoLive. My primary concern however is the layout not the messy HTML.

For starters, you've got the content way too wide. I'm at 1024x768 resolution, and I still have to scroll over to get to the other side of the page. Try thinning it a bit.

I think that's the problem.. The question is how? I have scaled back in the obvious areas, I try to keep all of my image widths around 150 both in the blocks and in the main body. Maybe move to 100P wide images?

Sorry to say that, but that is b*llshit. You can't get a working (and good looking) page with a messed code and your page is messed up!
You should start with deleting at least the block:
----------------
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<html>
geKow
<head>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=iso-8859-1">
<meta name="generator" content="Adobe GoLive 6">
<title>Welcome to Adobe GoLive 6</title>
</head>
----------------
wich appears right inside the page code *sigh

The problem is your stories are staying as a fixed width instead of shrinking and expanding when someone resizes the browser. Try working on the widths which define the info in the center column.
