Sharepoint Team Services is the application bundled with MS Frontpage 2002. It provides some 'portal' functionality to sites running on MS-IIS. Now, if you read the matketing (review?) hype, you'd think that this is the best thing to come to the Internet since Al Gore invented it. Now, some of the promised functionality seems like a good idea. The question then comes to mind: what about an Open Source alternative. Geeklog Maybe? A product such as Geeklog has some of the required functionality already. It appears to me that plugins could be developed or refined to give similar or close functionality.

I actually like the sharepoint product line. The beta for sharepoint portal 2 and windows sharepoint services are failry impressive. Honestly though this is precisely why I chose geeklog. It has many similar features.
