All this for How Much?

I posted this as a reply to the very first Hate Mail but thought it would be a good annoucement.
I heard about GeekLog 2 days ago from a friend that does web development. I crused over to this site, took a look and decided I had to create a site for no other reason than to see it work. I'll let you all know when it is available to the outside world...
I am a Unix geek but do not have a Linux box lying around. So I just decided that I would have a go on Windows XP. You can stop laughing.
To get everything going, I found out I needed to install a bunch of other stuff first. I found PHP, MySQL, Apache in one neat package, thank you http://www.firepages.com.au/!! I installed it onto my XP Box by double clicking (after the D/L). I NEVER read the docs. I just clicked away.
Then, I D/L'd GeekLog -- the purpose of this lunch-time project, dropped it onto my XP Box, configured it, hacked at it to get some quality play time in, D/L a weather plug-in (block?) and got it going too. I ran out of time or I would have gotten an image gallery going too. I figure that is another lunch project.
What was amazing was that I did this with no prior experience in MySQL, PHP or using a CMS. Simply Awesome!!
Now to convince others to use this as an Intranet tool instead of buying something for scads of $$$. If custom development is needed, I know who to contact for development...
