I hate it that I cannot install GL yet!

I'm a newbie. I have tried and tried to install GL but when I get errors and don't understand the path.. I quit.. Here's what I'd like to see... A REAL step 1, step 2 , step 3 approach to installing GL..Each step should have really detailed information explaining things to the t. Newbies are really new and would like to understand. I thing those who are real Geeks think above the normal and newbies get lost. Just my thoughts. I love geeklog. I paid to have someone set up my site
Hey buy from my store will ya? It will keep my site live!.
I would like to set up my own site however. Any thoughts would be appreciated...By the way.. I hate not being able to install GL but I LOVE GL and appreciate all othe hard work all of the volunteers do.. Thanks....

I found the gl documentation more then adequate for the install. With so many different unix flavours and configurations of servers it is almost impossible to predict all of the unique problems that may arise. If your having trouble installing geeklog beyond the steps listed in the documentation try finding help on irc or asking your hosting company.---the c0w says: m00

i hade problems my self at first.. but like you said i was a newbie as well.. The fact that you dont understand does not make gl documentations less understandable.. it just makes your self work harder towards learning and understanding what you dont know. Liffe do make a diffrence when you work hard and find help on other aspects such as gl installation problems.. getting help will not only help you..
but it will build your mind and stablelize your confidence a bit better for your self.. for the next time that you wish to install gl... as i did the same.. i found, i fixed, and im happy =) good luck

I think you should try it again. I installed GeekLog on my server a couple of hours ago -- never heard of it before, this site did look cool, I downloaded the tarball and it worked right out of the box. I patiently followed the "blue" new installation part of the doc, and everything was just fine.
There's a lot of messages in the help section. I'm sure many experienced people will be glad to help you out if you show them that you tried following the doc and tell them exactly what's wrong.
Regards

check out http://www.pair.com/ and look in the help section - they provide geeklog code to sites they host and there are install instructions for their system w/ free bsd, but they worked for me (since I use their hosting). Just a thought.

what exactly are you having trouble with? what are the errors? the directions are pretty simple if you read them.

the tutorial that you are talking about only works for people from pair.com. i think it uses a script that they have made on their server... don't think i'll work for other people...

That script was written by Jason Whittenburg (Geeklog's original author) and can be downloaded from his site ...
