Staticpage as frontpage in Geeklog1.3.8rc1

As much as I love the new features in Geeklog1.3.8, the new version of static pages is lacking functionality that was in the older version: in the older version, the frontpage did NOT have to be a center block. For those of us who do not want the frontpage to consist of a centered block, this is a major disadvantage. On my site, all I want the static page as a front page for is to show an image and do some explaining about what the site is for. By using this new setup, the formatting is completely messed up. Essentially, it destroys the effect of the site. As much as I like the idea that has been posed by this functionality, I\'m disapointed in the restrictions. Maybe I am wrong, but this feature should not have to necessarily be a center block; it never was in previous versions at least. As much as I like Geeklog1.3.8 and Staticpages 1.3, I will go back to the previous service release so that my site will not need a redesign; I hope in the final version of 1.3.8, this BUG is fixed. -- Scott Cederbaum Writingpages.com Administrator Writing Pages Online LTD

I'd suggest you try the setting "Position: Entire Page" ...

Aslo for formating you might want to change this setting in the staticpages config.php, $_SP_CONF[\'in_block\'] = 0; That will give you the standard formating. i.e., It won\'t be wrapped in a block css statement. Dwight

Well, your post wasn't too clear. I assume your problem is now that you have left and right blocks? Then, obviously, you will also need to set "Page Format" to "Blank Page".

My point is: You can get the same functionality as in 1.3.7. Only that it now has a proper implementation (and integration) and is not a hack any more (the "static pages on frontpage hack" ignored the "page format" setting, for example).

bye, Dirk
