Help developing a plug-in

Hello, I'm trying to develop a plug-in to manage clubs (basically a global address book managed by the users -- each user handling the entries he/she submitted). I'm having trouble using and installing the samples (like the static pages one). For example, when i'm trying to install from the Plugins admin page, I'm always getting a "mimeException" error message. I'm also having problem understanding what can be used inside the plugin. I believe a quick description of the functions provided by the files under the system folder would be great. Also I'd love to read something about how we can customize security settings like the static pages plugin is doing. Any help would be highly appreciated. Geeklog is a really nice tool.

What platform are you running on? (IIS or Apache) If apache, you will need to configure your webserver to accept .tar.gz mime types. If you are on windows, you'll probably have a hard time but I'll help if I can. Post the answer to my question and I'll help you from there. ----- The reason people blame things on previous generations is that there's only one other choice.

I'm on Apache (Mac OS X but the "production" site will be Linux based). I'll do what you suggest and will keep you posted. Thanks.

I now have this in my httpd.conf: AddType application/x-tar .tar AddType application/x-gzip-compressed .gz AddType application/x-gzip-compressed .tar.gz But the error is still: ::Errors occured:: staticpages_0.1_1.3.tar.gz ==>mimeException Any idea on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance.
