The Mailing Lists (lists) 0.3 Beta plugin has been released. The changelog and release notes can be found here. You can download the source (lists_0.3_1.3.7.tar.gz) from the gplugs web site.

I forgot to ask when I posted this article... If someone who has used this
plugin would be interested in contributing by writing some help
documentation or rewriting the INSTALL and README files into some nicer
HTML I would appreciate it. Also, if anyone translates this plugin into
another language I'd be happy include their translation with the next
release.
If you'd like to send me some documentation or ask any questions, please email me.
Thanks, Vinny

I downloaded and installed your plugin and had no problems creating a list. Does the plugin have a feature to allow emailiing to these lists? If so, where exactly is it located because I looked all around and can't find it.

Thank-you. I kept looking around in the Admin panel since the link you pointed out didn't show up anywhere on my screen.
I think the list creater is a little too eager in making lists. Everytime I assessed the "new mailing list" trying to find out how to create an email, it kept creating a new list named "new" even though I didn't fill anything out.

I have some code that could make this act more like a true mailing list. I wrote a PHP sendmail interface that you could use so that people could reply to this list. If you are interested, let me know I'd be happy to walk you through how it works.

I was looking at your script earlier and I'm still thinking about it. I have
to decide if I want to go with your script or write a custom one that acts
like other list software (like lists.geeklog.net for instance).
Thanks though, I'll let you know what I decide. In either case I'll
probably need a hand implementing it, I have not yet written a mail
script.
Thanks,
Vinny

Radme says: * Much, much more...
what does that mean
i would need something like a mailinglist, that would send out on a daily or weekly or something basis new articles, that were added to geek from last mailng and (this is crucial) new events (posted to calendar), the comments aren't so relevant. comments could be insisde, but this should be up to user to decide what he/she would like to read - what is the field of ineterest to him/her.
as i understand some of this functionality is coded into geek.
and this plugin somewhat extends that functionality, but, even if i install it, i won't get all those features i spoke about above?
or will i?
if i won't get that functionality, what can i do to get it?
i have some knwlege about coding and would apreciate some guidelines how to start.

Could someone please explain the Mailing List functionality a bit?
- If I \'subscribe\' to a new mailing list, do I receive email updates in my POP3 mail client?
- Can a registered member send an email POP3 to the mailing list?
If so, what is the address of the mailing list
- Is there a digest version, if so how does it show up?
It would be most helpful if someone did screenshots, or explained how this stuff works, not just how it can be installed and configured.
I\'ll gladly write up docs, if someone shows me a working version.
Thanks!
