I have just created a hack that allows Geeklog users to create wish lists for the holidays, birthdays, weddings, or any event where gifts are exchanged. A user can create multiple lists. In each list, they can add, edit, or delete information about things they would like to receive as a gift. Users can browse through the lists and get gift ideas. If you see something you want to get for the list creator, you can reserve it so other users don’t purchase it. After you have browsed through the lists and reserved all of the gifts you want to get, you can view your "Shopping List" to see all of the items you have reserved. So as not to spoil the surprise, you cannot see whether items have been reserved on a list that you created.

This program still needs a lot of work. Regardless, I have it up on my site so I could take advantage of it for the holiday season. You can view it at www.chiaddicts.com. Click on the link in the top right block called “Chiaddicts Gift Registry.” I need to work out some bugs, want to greatly expand its functionality, and hope to eventually make it a true Geeklog plug-in. Keep in mind that this is the first php code that I have ever written and I definitely have a lot to learn. If this project interests anyone, please contact me.

this looks GREAT for a start! I would love to integrate this with the amazon code I have done for geeklog (http://sourceforge.net/projects/gl-webservices). I am going to set up your code this weekend if I can and then see if I can't tweak it to work in tandem Smile Good job -john-----John http://www.slapd.net http://john.hoke.org

Ye gads! Could this be the beginning of a PayPal-enabled, GL-integrated shopping cart plugin that uses the gift registry and amazon/google webservices???

Let's all keep wishing and maybe it'll come true!
