hi. i finally did an explanatory write up of a hack i am currently using to use an external SMTP server with geeklog's mail functions. it's not the cool go to this line number, delete that, add this, kinda thing, so a user should have at least some familiarity with php and code deciphering before attempting. other than that, it's pretty straight forward, and more or less is the solution i created after reading this post a year ago on geeklog.

hi. i realized that i should have probably worked up a more user friendly hack before i posted on geeklog, so i apologize. so, in my spare time i've written a downloable package that should be pretty easy to install.
