When the story is posted, the rights given are Owner: RE, Group: R, etc. but how does the story owner edit their own story? Also on the initial story submission page, there is only one block for the body text, none for the introduction. Is that a setting in the config file? Thanks.

Normal users can\'t edit their stories. You need story.edit permissions to do that.

Again, that is not available to normal users. There are feature requests for both these issues, but they haven\'t been implemented yet ... bye, Dirk

If I give story.edit rights won\'t they be able to edit all postings?

Yep (well, more or less - depends on the groups they\'re in and which group owns the topics and the stories). I wasn\'t suggesting that you do that, merely stating that only users with that permission can edit stories. Sorry for any confusion. bye, Dirk

Okay, one last question. I created a group and gave story.edit rights, etc. Created a story and gave the Owner RE, Everyone else R. When I log in as thw owner of the story and access the story admin page the story says that the rights available are edit, for that story (which is correct) and Read Only to the other stories (which is also correct), but when I click the edit tag, GL gives me the message that I don\'t have the rights to edit that story even though it has the edit link. Am I doing something wrong?

Anyone created a hack to allow authors edit access to their own stories without being in an admin group?

If user meets gl permissions or user is the author then user has edit rights to the story.

Just curious if anyone has seen some code to tweak this access to allow an author to edit their own posts without setting them up as story admin or creating separate groups. Don't want them to have to be in admin groups, just want to allow them to keep their own information up to date. Cause the way I see if a user creates an article as draft and saves it, they can't see it after they hit save.

Thanks,

Normal users can't save articels in draft mode anyway.

The last thing I would want would be for users to be able to edit stories once I have approved them, regardless of whether they submitted them in the first place.

This is just my opinion, but I think allowing regular users to go in and edit their stories after they have been approved would open the door to abusive posting in the same way that some message boards do.

If you want to approve them personally (i.e. manually), it's even easier. Just create a group called "approved" with a story.edit right and add your chosen users to it.

I've got story.edit assigned to my group (I originally had Story Admin), but neither work properly. The user can't even edit their own story.

What gives?

I, too am having difficulty with this one.
My story admins can't edit their own stories unless I give them root access (all permissions)

Any thoughts?
