Shopping cart help needed
Hi,
I\'m new to Geeklog, but after comparing and reading around, I think this software is just great, and since I succesfully installed it myself, I consider it non-programmer friendly, which is also great.
For the moment, my website is written in plain html. I\'m using it to sell tours and travel packages for the travel agency I\'m managing. We sell mainly group tours to individuals. My shopping cart, MOFCart, is a perl program.
I\'ve discovered Geeklog after looking for a system that would allow \"members\" on the Internet to post a tour custom made to their wishes, so visitors could sign-in to those tours. Let\'s just say that the coach-tour industry offers the same old tourist destinations for ages, and people travelling in these organised tours are fast to cover them all. My idea was to find a way they could communicate their own personal taste to others, and convice fellow travellers to come with them, thus touring to origianl locations for a change. The only way to do that is via Internet.
I\'m sure I can arrange the present features in Geeklog to suit this objective really well, and then create a nice community on my website. The problem is payment.
I either need a way to pass infos from Geeklog pages to my actual cgi shopping cart (post action), or I need a new shopping gateway that would work in Geeklog. I only need to pass payment info, as I don\'t maintain any inventory database. I don\'t need a thing as complicated as OS Commerce. I\'m not using PayPal or other payment gateway as I\'m processing the credit card info by hand, but I need to be able to offer safe ccard payment over the internet.
The scenario is the following:
Each tour will be presented as a \"story\" item in the Geeklog system, and visitors will be free to look around, each story becomming a tour showcase. It will include the name of the member suggesting the tour, its picture, some photos about the destination, itinirary infos, dates, price, etc. If the one looking at it want\'s to book this tour, he pushes a \"buy\" button and is directed to a payment gateway under SSL. He then sends its credit card number. A receipt comes via email. No tax calculation, shipping or else is required, only the names, date of departure, tour info and ccard # are processed. The credit card info is then stored (encrypted) on to the server. When I receive the order, I\'m logging on to the server, collect the ccard number and erase it.
The MOFcart system (www.merchantorderform.com) works right for that.
Anyone seriously capable and willing to help me develop a PHP solution (or a bridge between Geeklog and MOFCart), please answer me. I have a small budget and I\'m ready to negociate something. I also want to give back the plugin to the community after it\'s created, so other people can use it.
Thanks for considering this offer. If you want to look at my actual website, please visit http://www.tourbec.info
