Adding Welcome Message to Smooth_Blue Theme...

Can anyone tell me where in the header.thtml for the smooth_blue theme, I can insert the welcome message and what the exact syntax to use to create the welcome message should be? I am still a newbie, and I understand that Smooth_Blue theme does not come with the welcome message, I have managed to change the logo on the header.thtml, but I just want to add the welcome message with date and time. Thank you all in advance
