Backups not possible: Filesize=0 bytes...
Chris
Anonymous
Hi all,
I\'ve got GL 1.3.8 installed and I\'m trying to do a backup of the site. I have done this successfully once before (using 1.3.8rc1 or 2), but now I\'m getting this message:
Backup Failed: Filesize was 0 bytes
Any ideas? Some file permission screwed up perhaps? I have set my permissions as shown in the install.html file...
Thanks,
Chris.

The reason for the 0 btye backup files is still under investigation (see previous coverage).
Any hints are welcome ...
bye, Dirk

Well, yes ... But it\'s hard to look into something when you can\'t reproduce it yourself and those that are affected don\'t provide any evidence for or against the current theory ...
bye, Dirk

Your theory is pretty close. It actually deals with whether a person has permission to run exec(). At my host, if safe_mode is on I get the same error message and mysqldump is not executed. When turned off, it works fine. At some hosts even with safe_mode off, they will still put a restriction on using exec(). Those having problems should ask their host to expand permissions allowing exec to run mysqldump. Mine won\'t do this with safe_mode on but have no problems allowing it when off.

Awhile back I sent you the story.php I had worked on a bit to try to get image captions to work. Been sending you emails, but got no reply. Just wondering if you got the messages. Perhaps you just decided not to do the captions. If its the latter its fine, just want to know so I can try and get the thing solved some other way.

I emailed it to you five times. Four of which bounced back saying it couldn\'t deliver to your address. The fifth time looked like it went through but I guess not. I return home on Sunday and will send it again. Does your mail server not like gzip attachments? If not, I\'ll give a link to download it instead.
