Disable Topic Icons?

Just curious if there\'s a way to disable the topic icons, without having to go to each story and uncheck the \"show topic icon\" setting.

It\'s not really supported, but users can switch off the topic icon in their preferences. So what you could do is set that to \"off\" for all your users and also change the default value for new users accordingly. bye, Dirk

And if you don\'t want the topic icons at all, just delete the link to the icon for each topic setting. To editing a topic setting click on \"Topics\" under \"Admin Only\" block. Sam

I think I got it. I just made a 1pixel by 1pixel blank image, and used that for the topic icon. Doesn\'t show up at all. :-)

I don\'t know why you need that. As for mine, when I leave the link blank, nothing shows up. I worked both for 1.3.7 and 1.3.8. Sam

I just found that with Firefox everything looks ok with the "topic icon" checkbox enabled, but on IE 6 with all current fixes it shows as a broken image? In looking at the html source it seems that the img src was set to the icons/ directory without listing a specific image file. I guess Firebird handles this without noting the problem and IE reports it to the user.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

OOPS! Sorry I just realized I didn't yet understand sufficiently about topic icons! I wasn't assigning the image when creating new topics and didn't notice since I was using Firebird so far. Checking IE in the admin area for topics showed all the breaks there too. I guess this is just a heads-up that if you've got missing or broken image links, Firebird won't show them to you... All fixed now.

in config.php:

in "story settings"

change the value to 0

$_CONF['show_topic_icon'] = 0; // default for new stories
