Read this - security bug / log out problem

Scenario: I have 4 computers at home. I jump from one computer to another depending on what I want to do. So, I am logged in on one computer as Admin and do stuff on my geeklog page ( www.WebTrainerPlus.com ) and then while still logged-in to computer1 I go to computer2 and log in as Admin again. Whats happening: When I want to log off computer2 I cant. It siply is not letting me log off. I have to close the browser and then its fine. I have noticed this over and over - with AOL doing the same thing - not letting me log in at all. My geeklog works like a charm - its this logging thing that I have just recently noticed that bugs me and could be a potential security thing. Paul

How are you connected to the internet? If all your computers share the same IP, then Geeklog can\'t really tell them apart (cookies and the \"remember me\" setting in Geeklog also come into play here). When you say you can\'t log out, does that apply to one computer? Or do you mean you log out on one computer and are still logged in on another? In the latter case, you would actually re-login on the next computer. bye, Dirk

The computers do not share the same IP address. I have a DHCP running on my router. When I click the log out link, its not doing anything. I just earased all the cookies and cache and closed the browser. When I come back - I have to log in. And then I cant log out again. I am using win 98 with IE 6 here and its not letting me log out at all . I rarely use this computer and now this seems a bigger problem to me ( the fact that I cant log out at all from this machine ). When I go to my other computer, when I go to my main site, it says I am logged out and I have to log in and its working fine. With other computers ( ones I own Smile ) I have no problems at all whatsoever. Paul

All other computers are clear - only this computers is on line with geeklog and I am using it to post these messages on the forum So - only one computer - this one and I cant log out at all!!!!! Even if I close the browser. Nothing. And its telling me: You have been successfully logged out. I refresh the browser and its still logged in adn I can do administrative tasks. So, even though I closed my browser I opened my site again adn there it was logged in and ready to be played with. Scary!

IE5.x/6 -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Settings -> View Files -> Edit -> Select All -> File -> Delete -> Yes. While your at it, if you have a cable/dsl connection, you can set the cache size to about 64MB... Close all windows and re-open IE. If you\'re still logged in (to the geeklog site), then computer gremlins have taken over your PC. I have 3 machines behind a win2kserver NAT (yaya, forgive me) which has its own DHCP server, all machines internally have diff IP\'s (obviously), however, externally its the same IP which is the only IP that Geeklog would see.

Hi You might be right in that case, but as I mentioned, I logged off from all of my computers except for this one and I used a tool called: Tracks Earaser that cleans all coookies, cache, temp files ...etc etc. I still was unable to log off. Also, when I was editing my static pages, I was unable to see the result right away. I had to refresh the screen more than once to see the editing result. I am no longer using the computer, so its not an issue now....but it might come back to haunt us in the future. Paul
