i\'ve finally got geeklog running, or so i thought. somehow whenever i want to edit or post a story i get the message \"You are trying to access a story that you don\'t have rights to. This attempt has been logged. Please go back to the story administration screen. \" anyone knows what happened? should i chmod the sql directory or is it in the source? thanks in advance

Sounds like you posted a story as one user, then tried to edit it as another (one other than root). Check the rights to the story to see who owns it and who has rights to edit it.

I have a similar problem. I have a generic user that I use to create stories. The following are groups the user belongs to: All Users, Story Admin, Logged-in Users. If I create a story with this user, it is no longer editable by that user. I get the same message when trying to edit the story. Thoughts?

Okay, figured this one out. The topic were not owned by Topic Admin. I changed them to Story Admin and its all working. Now that I think about it. Should the ownership stay the same and should I add Topic Admin to the rights of my generic user?

I had the same issue. As soon as I added myself to Topic Admin (not something I want to add to my story admins) I was able to edit the post. Is this on purpose or is this a bug. I want certain users to be able to edit stories, but I don\'t want them to be able to edit the Topics... Thanx WMOPNC for the resolve. It can be resolved by either making the owner of the Topic to be Story Admin or by granting the user Topic Admin rights ( not good either way ). Hopefully the geeklog guys can resolve this. Story admins should be able to edit any stories but we should be able to keep them from modifying topics...
