Add or Modify Link Categories

Have an extensive, up to date, table containing web links. They are currently categorized by topic. Is there a way to add additional categories to the category dropdown. And if so, are the relationally linked?

Just select \"other\" and enter the category in the edit field on the right.
Link categories are stored with the actual link, the dropdown only collects them (there\'s no such thing as a \"links category table\" in the database).
