Hello, I am new to geeklog and am having a problem. I searched through the forums and was unable to find any mention of my problem so I am posting here.
My install of geeklog seems to work just fine, other than anything that deals with editing. For example, logged in as Admin, if I try to create a new topic, clicking on the \'New Story\' button takes me to the exact same page I am already on. SAme thing if I try to edit the \'Geeklog\' or \'General News\' topics, it just takes me back to the same page each time.
What am I missing or doing wrong? There are no errors or messages generated anywhere I can find that indicate a problem. The links just take me back to the page I am already at!
Thanks in advance,
Robert

Do you have register_globals=off?

Nope:
grep -i globals /etc/php.ini
; register_globals to be on; Using form variables as globals can easily lead
register_globals = On

Sorry, no, that does not help any. I was following that thread as well, because I also have had the problem where if the authorization window comes up in the middle (with the red lettering under it), it will not log in \'admin\'. If I use the user login section in the bock, it works fine.
Anyhow, a little more information about the issue I am seeing. I also can not do anything with the calendar. Clicking on a date only takes me back to the calendar view. If I click on Add entry, it takes me to the same calendar page.
I find this entire thing to be pretty odd and I suspect something silly is either broken in this version (unlikely) or something on my end. I mean, the entire install went without any problem. No errors, nothing unexpected. Everything seems to work just fine, there just are a couple places that refuse to work.

H*ll no. This is apache 1.3.27 on linux (SuSe 8.2). If this is something new, I am more than willing to gather whatever data you need. I am very new to geeklog, but I am a programmer and have a great background in debugging other people\'s code.
In fact, I just found a nagging bug in Gallery cvs. So, if I can help, let me know.

A little more information on this. I did some more poking around and even things like trying to click on a username in the User Manager just takes me back to the page I am already on. So far, I have not found a single place on this install where any type of editing can be done - all attempts to do so just take you back to the page you are already on.
Any ideas to what is missing?

Just to be sure - can you verify that register globals is on with a phpinfo(). Just in case your install is reading a different php.ini
Sure sounds like this is the problem as dwight noted.

Hahahaha... oh my, now I feel stupid. For another system I had to upgrade part of php and in the process I had inadvertently changed the config file location. Good catch. My initial tests show it is working now, thanks much.

Is there a way to change the path to php.ini withing geeklog? I am using a hosted service but, I cannot edit the php.ini. The problem stems from not having the default tmp files writable by their users so, I cannot upload any images (for the users' pictures of themselves). I figure if I can upload a default one and change the path somewhere in geeklog, it will be able to use my own /tmp directory within the html structure.

you can't edit the path to php.ini, but you can edit the upload class so that it uploads to a directory of your choosing rather than the server tmp dir. I've done it, no prob.. just have a look a the class--it is pretty straight forward.
