Event Reminder
I'm a n00b here, so forgive me if I missed this somewhere else, but does Geeklog have, either out of the box or as a reputable plugin, a Group Calendar Event Reminder? I'm trying to set up a community site, and this is one piece of functionality I can't seem to find *anywhere*!
Thanks!

No, it doesn't. Adding such a feature would require a fairly simple PHP shell script registered with cron job.
The reason people blame things on previous generations is that there's only one other choice.

you mean one that sends you a mail as reminder?
Yeah, that's it. I'm trying to move my team off Yahoo Groups, and that seems to be a key functionality none of the major PHP/MySQL CMSs seem to have. That and lists, although I can probably live with that ommission.

First of all, just want to say "thanks!" to everyone for posting solutions and, most of all, to the GL team. Really appreciate the work you've put into Geeklog. (I'm also amazed at how well you're able to deal with some of the more "demanding" users that expect so much for nothing and without even a morsel of appreciation...somedays, it would make me want to give up, I'm sure.)
Through searching, I've been able to find most of the information I need. This one "wish" of mine has eluded me though and I'm hoping someone can help.
The calendar still doesn't allow email reminders "as-is", correct? Tony mentions using a PHP shell script and cron. Has anyone done this? If so, can you post your solution? Would really appreciate any help.

Anyone? I think I can figure out the cron part, but have no idea on the PHP part...
