After installation Step 2 when i click next im getting a "An SQL error has occured. Please see error.log for details."

If it is on install, there won't be anything in the log. Most likely your db user is wrong or the db has already been created.
I came accross this last night. Do to the security fix, the sql errors are not being displayed for installations. I would call this a bug.
