Chatterblock settings won't save, plus more problems

So I just installed Chatterblock v.3.0 (I'm running Forum 2.2 on Geeklog 1.3.8-1). The chatterblock block seemed to work fine. But when I tried changing the admin settings (such as hiding ip address and user preferences), it never got saved.

I made sure that all directories having to do with chatterblock had read and execute permissions and all files had read permissions in both geeklog dir and public_html dir. And both the chatterblock/cache directory and the cb_config.php file are set to chmod 775.

Then suddenly my website's index.php page went completely blank, only showing the header and the left blocks but nothing else. The forum, links and calendar all seemed to work as usual but the front index page was completely blank as described.

I immediately disabled the chatterblock plugin and the website was back to normal again.

I have no idea if or what I may have done wrong when installing it. Does anyone have the answer or has this happened to you before? Thanks in advance.

My guess is that the Chatterblock had an error (e.g. a parse error) somewhere, but the error message wasn't displayed.

bye, Dirk

So is that something I can just ignore?

I'm still not sure what to do about the Chatterblock admin settings not being saved...

Sorry, I guess my answer was a bit too brief ...

No, you shouldn't ignore it but try to find out what happens. If you have access to the php.ini, try switching on the error reporting and/or change it to display all errors.

I assume you already checked error.log for entries?

I am also having some trouble with my chatterblock. It won't save the setting. Then when I tried to CHMOD it to 775, it still did it. When I went back to the file, it had return to 664. How do I have Chatterblock save my settings?

I checked the error.log and it's just full of stuff like:

SELECT * FROM mnu_index WHERE ((perm_anon >= 2)) AND (lang = '') ORDER BY m_pos ASC

and I have no idea what that means...

Chatterblock does need write access the cb_config.php file located under public_html/chatterblock/cache. It would need write access for the webserver process user.

If in doubt for testing - make it 777.

That seems to have done it for me. I chmod 777 cb_config.php and the directory that it's in and now the settings are being saved. sweet.

Thanks Blaine.

That looks like it's coming from the Menu Plugin. Leftover debugging messages, maybe?
