Is there a plug-in that will let me sell digital downloads through paypal?

working
I'm thinking ofusing paypal's shopping card and instant notification with geeklog to sell my band's mp3s. Yes, I know why buy what you can download for free - but apparently people do. We are using shopsite pro now and it's a nightmare. We run a geeklog powered site and I think we should be able to allow access based on login only to downloads that the Admin has confirmed as paid for. Thoughts? Question

A shopping cart plugin is on my list, but pretty far down right now. Going to start my reviews plugin in the next few days, though! I've been planning it the last few days.

One key problem with GL vs other similar software (the Nukes) is that you cannot run it both off http and https at the same time. I reported this some 18 months ago or thereabouts.

With Postnuke I could run http://www.example.com/ and https://www.example.com/ with no problem at all (both off the same installation and database). But GL embeds the URL into the software (and even worse, database), thus preventing this.

So even if there were a plugin, it would not do you much good unless you ran your site off https full-time.

A site I just built does this. I haven't had any problems with using some https links and some http links. What problems were you having? Perhaps they fixed this in the last 18 months. The site also uses a GL plugin version of osCommerce that is almost ready for public consumption.
Yes I am mental.

What do you use for 'site_url' in config.php?

e.g. in my case it is "http://www.bodensatz.com"
When I did this before, you could surf the https://www.bodensatz.com site for a bit, but very soon something you clicked on the site would take you to http:

I'd be interested in hearing how you've done this. Where is your site?

Have you guys looked at squirrelcartat all?
It seems fairly functional and the developers wrote that it's open code. (There is a fee for it, around 80.00 or so)

In my GL config it uses the http address, and any links that use https have to be hardcoded in the template files.

The site I am talking about is lovenectar.com (don't place and order unless you want a product to ship)

Are you gonna release this plugin? It would probably be good to release a beta so people could help perfect it...
Just a thought...

I have found a couple issues with it on the production server that I have been fixing. Then once it gets pretty well used and abused then fixed I will release it.

It's almost ready, some issues are still being worked out with it being multi-OS complient. Hang in there for a little longer and I'm sure you and along with the rest of the GL community will be pleased. I know I am so far, with the results of testing that I've been doing.
