I crashed my system so that nothing comes up now...

totally appreciate any help or ideas...

here is what i did before i crashed it:

1. made a new group called FRIENDS
2. made a new group called PALS
3. went back and edited FRIENDS group settings, clicked on the PALS box so they have that also.
4. went back and edited PALS and clicked on FRIENDS.

after that its gone....

I know what i did was stupid but i was goofing around and now my site refuses to come up. I can't access the main page, admin or anything.

Any ideas or help and I'll owe ya one!

Cheers

Stevyn

Hmm, which version of Geeklog are you running? Earlier versions could hang if you had circular group references.

I can't remember when exactly that was fixed, but if you're on 1.3.7, you could try using the lib-security.php from 1.3.8.

bye, Dirk

Thanks massive for your help !

my system is now back online and I think everything has been recovered.

what i did to fix it:

1. did a mysqldump of the current stuff.
2. used phpmyadmin tool to restore the system from an old back up.
3. then i used the tool to add bit and peices from the new dump.
4. finally figured out that by removing the latest problem groups from the table 'gl_group_assignments' all is ok.

I am pretty sure i am back 100%

Thanks to phpmyadmin tool, Dirk/geeklog & Jason/Textfiles.com for help in getting us back online. I think everything has been recovered, WHEEW!

lesson: everyone should rush to their admin panel and do a backup asap. Then do one before you experiment to much.

cheers!

sigh!

Smile
