Was wondering, i know you don't need it, but is it possible to support a web template and a "geek log" web portal all on the front page?

So i guess what your telling me is that a webportal is in a sense a web template?
What i think i was trying to get at is, i like the geeklog portal, but only certain features would be neccasary for me to use. So would it be possible to incorporate those particular features into a web faced template? If so do i need to be nasty at coding or is it fairly easy.

I'm not sure still exactly what you mean by a 'web template' but my best guess is that you are refering to either some third party piece of template code (such as squatty) or you are refering to some other entity.
For Geeklog Users, a template is a file which describes which describes what goes on a particular page, how it should look, etc... Geeklog is a CMS/Portal system. It manages content, and produces web-pages by inserting the content into a template.
Geeklog is heavily integrated. You can't use any part of geeklog without having at least the core geeklog system installed. So, I think the answer to your question is no, you cannot take parts of geeklog that you like and merely add them to an non-geeklog site without basicly rewriting everything you are trying to copy.
However, almost anything can be integrated into geeklog. So if you want geeklog stuff, install geeklog, turn off/disable everything you don't want, and then add whatever additional pages you need.
