HELP with Static Pages!!!
Francesco
Anonymous
Here is what happened:
1) For some reason I never noticed until yesterday that the "static pages" link on the "admins only" section on my website was missing
2) When I realized I clicked on the "plugins" page and saw that "static pages" was correctly installed
3) I tried to access manually the static pages index page and got an error (access denied) even though I have root priviliges
4) I thought about uninstalling and reinstaling it.
5) I uninstalled and got an SQL error (sorry I don't remember which error...)
6) I tried to reinstall the plugin manually by copying the files in the right places but then the ENTIRE website went down: any pages was telling me that a certain field (sp_pos i believe it was) was missing from the gl_staticpages table.
7) I manually inserted the field in that table and now (thanks God!!) the site is up again but no trace of static pages in my admins only section (and access denied to its own index page).
Can I manually uninstall it and reinstall it? Anybody has ever written down the steps??
What else could I do? I really need to have some static pages for a new section of my website with tutorials and stuff...
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
The website is www.sbphoto.twzone.net

Make sure the plugin is enabled.
You can uninstall (almost) any plugin by using the "delete" button from the plugin editor. It should then be listed as an uninstalled plugin on the list of plugins, from where you can reinstall it with a single click.
Installing / uninstalling in that context only means that information about the plugin is added to / removed from the database. The actual files are not touched.
bye, Dirk
