Well the website is up and running, but if you go to http://www.crazman.com it doesn't go to index.php I don't know how to fix this.

That's a problem with your server setup.

Assuming Apache: In your httpd.conf, you should have a line like this:
Text Formatted Code
DirectoryIndex index.html index.php

bye, Dirk

Can you do this with a symbolic link:

ln -s /path/to/geeklog/public_html/index.php index.html

That's what I tried to do, and all I get is gibberish ...

Probably not. The server needs to know that it's a PHP file (which needs to be interpreted) instead of a plain HTML file (that is simply sent to the browser).

If in doubt, ask your hosting service ...

bye, Dirk

Hi, Dirk!

I solved it quite by accident when I put index.php at the root, where I'd normally have index.html. After that, all I did to make it come up was change this line in index.php:

require_once('lib-common.php');

to include the complete /path/to/ where lib-common.php is located. Now you can just put www.reda.com in the browser and it comes up fine, and all seems to work OK.

Apparently my hosting company is set up to recognize a php file in the root?

thanks,

WP

excuse me for stepping in here, but I just wanted to mention something that you may have missed Crazman...

when you installed GeekLog, it seems that you installed the public_html files into a sub dir of your doc root. by moving index.php into your doc root, you should have noticed this discrepancy(?).

index.php and libcommon.php and all those other files and folders that the install instructions said to place in the public_html dir should probably go there along with your index.php. then you wouldn't have to change the include path for libcomm..... or, if you had left them all where ever you put them in the first place, just tack that dir onto the end of your addy, eg, www.crazman.com/gl_files.
