Well I installed the filemgmt prog on my site, all went well and I uploaded a vid to test it out....and all went well. Then when I tried to UL another file it said it was a duplicate file...so I chose a small pic to UL and it did it fine, and then I ULed a Quicktime file and it was fine...and now everytime I try to UL a vid I get the same error no matter what.

Vilification Dissension Forums Error

Error Code: 1017

ERROR: The file was not uploaded. Check permissions or duplicate file.

My site is http://www.vilification.com

I went to :
http://www.vilification.com/admin/plugins/filemgmt/error_log

And it says:
26-Nov-2003 18:12:59] PHP Warning: move_uploaded_file(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/kaxter/www/data/filemgmt_data/files/train.avi) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/kaxter:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp) in /home/kaxter/public_html/admin/plugins/filemgmt/index.php on line 776

Any ideas? This is the LAST question I will ask on the boards I swear, lol. Again, if anyone can help me out I will love you forever.

Looks to be a host setup restriction. Are you running this at a ISP or hosted service?

Do they have safemode on?

Ok, I can upload any vid that is under 3 megs...

Why is this? I can upload pics, I can upload all formatts and anything under 2.5-3 megs...but anything else I cant get it to work, what could cause this?

My site is http://www.vilification.com

Any ideas? I talked to my admin and he said that it wasnt a host thingFrown

There is a max. size that you can set for uploads in php.ini. It usually defaults to 2 MB.

Ok, thank you SO much for the info, but I dont quite understand what "php.ini" is. Is that in the folder that I downloaded (filemgmt)?

I looked in its public_html folder and I didnt see anything, so what is the file that I have to mod to say 40 megs?

Again, thanks for being so patient with me, I really appreciate your help.

php.ini is the configuration file for PHP. If you're not running your own server, you probably won't have access to it anyway (but you could try asking your hosting service).

In any case, you can do a phpinfo() (e.g. by calling up the file admin/install/info.php). It will display the PHP configuration, which will contain (amongst lots of other things) the path to the php.ini and also the current max. upload size.

Well my admin REFUSES to change it, I dont know why, but he wont let me access it or change it, hes such a jerk.

I have a php.ini file in my version of php (4.3.3) and I have modded it to be max 50MB, is there any way to utilize this or am I pretty much stuck?

It depends on the server's setup. You may be able to use a local php.ini (by simply copying it into your document root) or you may be able to override some (or all) of the PHP settings from a .htaccess file.

bye, Dirk
