RSS news import with description

I'm trying to setup some RSS news aggregation with NEWS plugin RC1 and I'm wondering if someone knows how I could include the short description field on the detailed view that some feeds provide. I only see a list of headlines if I try check a feed regardles if it has descriptions or not. I would be nice to use the published date field, too.
