It is about the rise of spammers, but what i found the most annoying, is that it was GeekLog that allowed access to the machine in the first place.

I haven't really read the article yet, but from a quick glimpse it seems the problem was caused by this line:
which does not exist in Geeklog itself. My guess is that it's from the Geeklog/Gallery integration.
The page states that the story was originally published 26-Sep-03. The author hasn't tried to contact us, though, AFAICS. Don't know if he tried to contact the maintainers of the Geeklog/Gallery integration ...
