I submit a story as a test, check the front page, and there it is. I go back in, submit another story and boom the first one has vanished into thin air. What gives?

Also, the pages cache and I have to hit shift refresh to update anything at all. I've checked my browser setting and it seems to have something more to do with the config file. What can I change so the pages won't cache?
