shared logins
Hi there,
I have three websites that I would like to have a shared signup/login on.
www.phpreviews.com
www.perlreviews.com
www.adminreviews.com
ie. if you sign up on phpreviews.com, that login will be good for the other two web sites etc.
If this is only possible via custom programming, I would welcome quotes sent to admin@phpreviews.com.
Thank you,
--Tone

What you might do is create one database for all your websites.
Just have separate prefixes for your tables, *except* for the user tables. Well, this only creates a backup problem for you.
You could use different themes for layouts, but have the same links and events on the site. Create separate groups for the users and you could secure the content.
Cheers!

I think he wants a single shared users database to be used by the three sites. There are multiple user related tables that would need to be managed. I've recommended a custom registration mod that would syncronize the three installations.
This way each GL install is not hacked and easy to upgrade but would present as a single shared membership. At least that would be my first approch without any testing.

Right you are Blaine - I appreciate the offer.
After a lot of considerations I have decided to drop GL all together and just go with a static html version for each site.
That will give me a better solid control over the final outlook of each individual page.
True, I will lose the login option and I was going to go with glMessenger for each site but I cannot afford the custom programming to get a unified login going. That would be a great feature to be added to geeklog though, I am sure that there are several other sites there by the same owners on the same box that would love this kind of cohecency between their sites.
Thanks guys,
