I'm looking for software to use for a blogging community. I'm familiar with CMS systems and have used many of them for various projects. Geeklog looks like a good system and I could easily see using it in the future.

But, I looked at Geek Log once before and rejected it for the specific purpose of a blogging community.

Then I saw this review at MacWorld which recommended Geek Log very highly for a blogging community and recommended it over Live Journal.

My problem is that I've looked at a number of Geek Log sites and they all seem to be traditional CMS portals, not weblogs. I'm quite interested in GeekLog and don't want to make a mistake by passing it by on this particular project especially since systems that provide will run a blogging community are not at all common.

What I need is something that looks and smells like the typical weblog site that uses MovableType, b2, or one of the weblog software packages and that has all of the blogging specific features like pingback, trackback, post by email or using a blog api desktop tool, etc.

I'm concerned that GeekLog may simply be too feature rich for my purposes.

Should I take a serious look at Geek Log for a blogging community or should I save Geek Log for the next CMS project I do?

It would probably help if you could be more specific. What is a "blogging community" for you?

If you mean that several people could use one site as their (personal) blog, you may want to have a look at the Journal plugin.

Apart from that, Geeklog is really meant to be used by one person or group of people per install.

bye, Dirk
