I have always been a Unix/Linux user for web. So I have a stupid Windows question (I mean the question might be stupid, not Windows ). Can we install GL on a personal computer with Windows XP? Is it possible to install PHP and MySQL on a personal computer with Win XP, and then put GL on?
Someone wants me to display GL on a laptop projected to the screen at a room that does not have internet access.

You sure can and thats the environment that I use for my Development. XP-Pro includes a version of IIS, not sure about the home edition.
You will want to use the PHP Windows Installer, it will even configure IIS for you.
Then install MySQL and you should be ready to install geeklog. An install of phpMyAdmin is always recommended as it's a great Database tool.

yup, MySQL, PHP, Geeklog, Apache, etc...etc... can all be run on Windows (Xp, 2k, 98 even).
There is a distribution (is that what it's called?) that will install everything for you at once, it's called Aeonserv (http://aeonserv.com).
All you have to do is follow the directions and boom, you have a GL site. I currently run my site with AeonServ, on windows XP, without any hitches

Oh, that was what it is for!
I have been to aeonserv.com for over a year, ever since he announced that package, and never understood what he was providing. I thought it was a package for a Windows server.
Thanks for the enlightenment!

It has alot of stuff in it, but is not actually a windows server. Aeonserv includes Apaches, PHP, MySQL, AWStats, Aestan Tray Menu, phpMyAdmin, htmlArea, Activestate Perl, Geeklog, and possibly other stuff. Makes setting a Geeklog, or any other type of site, easy.
