Permissions on a Windows NT server

I'm currently trying to install GL on a Windows NT server. The success.php shows that the installation was successful but the check.php shows that all 4 tests failed. I'm assuming this is becaues chmod is for unix only. The webhost says that the website has full permission by default.

While everything looks okay, I'm unable to upload pictures, for example, to images/userphotos. I get an upload/chmod error message.

I am not familiar with the Windows server environment at all.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

For those of you familiar with Windows servers, would the problem I'm having with uploads perhaps have to do with that when someting gets uploaded to the server it first goes to a temporary directory of some kind that is ouside of my document root, thererefore not allowing necessary permissions for me?

I'm still stuck and the webhost is not returning my email about this either. Frown

I still can't figure this out. Can someone please help?

This is the last email I got from the webhost:
"We have checked the settings for these folders and they turn out to be correct. We also recommend you to re-create these folders to see if that fixes the problem"

I have re-created the following folders but I still can't write to any of them:
/backend/
/geeklog/logs/
/images/articles/
/images/userphotos/

And I still get this same error when I try to upload images:

File Upload Errors
Upload of picturename.jpg failed.
Chmod of picturename.jpg to 0644 failed

even though CHMOD is for unix only. The webhost says I should have full permission.

Does anyone know the answer to this problem?

Id you can't write to those directories yourself (like saving a text file), then that definitely sounds like a permissions error. Yell some more at your provider.

I finally got this email from the webhost:

Text Formatted Code
Hi:
We have corrected the permissions on these folders

Thanks

That's it. No explanation whatsoever. Nothing about how they didn't admit there was a problem before. Nothing.

Well, at least it works now.

People, whatever you do, stay away from this "webhost" called Hercules Hoster. They advertise 10 mySQL databases as part of the plan but there was nothing about SQL anything in their control panel. They only offered to set some up after I emailed them asking about it. Every database they set up required me to email them after connection problems and then wait for them to reset the databases. I have never experienced anything like this. A web server that runs on Windows is a bad idea anyway (This is for a friend's website after she had already signed up for a year's hosting with them).
