How do you make another block that you can put stories into?
I know you can make another block and have static pages but I want the contribute story functionality to work in the other block as well...
is this possible?

Stories in a block? Do you mean topics? But Geeklog supports only one topics block.

You may want to have a look at the Menu plugin which lets you add links to its block easily.

I'm not sure that anyone has put actual stories into a block. It shouldn't be too hard to do, though. First, try writing a php static page that accesses the stories you want and displays them (use index.php as a template). Then, display that code in a block.

A block seems awfully small, though, to contain a story.
