I have done this install several times. I deleted everything and started over, including the database.
Here is the new database info:
Users in sunkeydb1
sunkeypu_ (Privileges: ALL PRIVILEGES)

Connection Strings
Perl $dbh = DBI->connect("DBI:mysql:sunkeypu_sunkeydb1:localhost","sunkeypu_","");
PHP $dbh=mysql_connect ("localhost", "sunkeypu_", "") or die ('I cannot connect to the database because: ' . mysql_error());
mysql_select_db ("sunkeypu_sunkeydb1");

When I run the http://sunkeypublications.com/admin/install/check.php this is what I get:
Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user: 'sunkeypu_@localhost' (Using password: YES) in /home/sunkeypu/system/databases/mysql.class.php on line 108
Cannnot connect to DB server

When I run the http://sunkeypublications.com/admin/install/install.php this is what I get:
Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user: 'sunkeypu_@localhost' (Using password: YES) in /home/sunkeypu/system/databases/mysql.class.php on line 108
Cannnot connect to DB server

Can someone help me with this install? I can't figure out what I am missing!

Can you connect to your database normally outside of geeklog?

I just created the database and it is blank. I can access it from the control panel.
I created the database, edited the config.php file and went to the http://sunkeypublications.com/admin/install/install.php. That is where I got the error message.

Try connecting to it from a terminal window. Use the 'mysql' commands.

I finally got it to work. I just created a new user and changed the info in the config.php file and what do you know? It worked!
Thanks for the assist and I am sure I will be back. I must work on the plugins today and have this site running by the weekend.

BTW....I am part of a sports network that is using Geeklog. I had someone install it for my website a long time ago and my network was so impressed they switched the whole network. Not bad considering they get about 6 million users per month.
You are welcome to take a look. My site is here and my part of the network is here
I also have the newest version of the software on here
I would love to upgrade to the new look that is on the Draft Exchange part of the network but have not had the time. You can see that too if you click the center box at the top of the Eagles site.
