Question about email capability in geeklog.

How secure is it? Is it possible for spambots to hijack it and use it for sending spams? What precautions do I have to take to prevent that.

Thanks Question

The option to send an email to a user has a speed limit (the same as for posting stories, defaulting to 45 seconds), so it should be pretty unattractive for spamming. And it would only go to registered users of the site, since you can't submit an email address.

The option to send a story to a friend (where you can enter the recipient's address) doesn't have a speed limit yet (although it would make sense - have to add that in 1.3.9rc2 ...). It does however, add a lot of text before and after the short note that you can enter, so that it shouldn't be too attractive either (try it out to see what I mean).

bye, Dirk

(edit: Correction, the "send story to a friend" option does already have a speed limit)
