I really don't know the deference.
Is one set up do smoothing the others don't?
What is better?
Also if it's just a prefs thing.

'mail' is more or less the same as in Geeklog prior to 1.3.9. So if that works for you, leave it as it is.
For 'smtp' you will have to use (for example) the same mail server that you normally send mail from (your ISP's, for example).
Depending on the setup, the chances that emails are considered spam by some of the more aggressive spam filters are slightly higher with 'mail'.
There probably aren't too many scenarios where you would prefer to use 'sendmail' over any of the others ...

ok I just left it as the default.
